Quarry spalls are used when large, bony rock material is needed to firm up muddy or soft areas. Rocks are screened to the 4-inch and 2-inch measurements, but sizes may appear visually larger. Spalls can be compacted while still providing water permeability.
- The 2″ x 4″ quarry spall can be used as backfill for rock walls, as subbase for pavement or as a stabilizing layer before building.
- The 4″ x 8″ quarry spall is useful for construction entrances, armoring slopes, and stabilizing wet areas. For residential purposes, it may be used to build small flower bed retaining walls.
